Family Therapy Training Boston is a learning community committed to enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and groups by providing state of the art training for mental health and other helping professionals. Spawned by the closure of the Family Institute of Cambridge, an organization that educated people in New England and afar for 35 years, we aspire to meet some of its training goals. Our work is rooted in the values of social justice; it is comprehensive, immersive, practical, empowering, strength based, rejuvenating, and hopeful. We are committed to working with all people in ways that demonstrate respect and understanding for the myriad ways there are to live a good life.
Elizabeth (Liz) Brenner, LICSW is the Director of Family Therapy Training Boston. Liz is committed to hosting and facilitating learning experiences that support high quality care while enhancing participant’s sense of well being. She is passionate about holding clinical meetings and running organizations in ways that make challenging processes doable. Liz integrates ideas from social work, psychology, science, and ancient healing traditions to deepen and enliven her work. Counseling and administrative work in child psychiatric inpatient, home-based and outpatient settings for almost 30 years have taught her many lessons. A perpetual learner, Liz has been blessed with many exceptional mentors, many of whom continue to teach at Family Therapy Training Boston.
