Women's Leadership Program
A Year Long Course for women, meeting one day per month from 10 AM to 4:15 PM, starting October 7, 2010 and ending Wednesday June 1, 2011 with 45 CEU's.
Instructor(s): Caroline Marvin, PhD, Fern Miller, LICSW and Nancy Rosenblum, LICSW. Guest faculty for special topics will be announced.
Date(s): Thursday October 7th, Saturday November 6, Sunday December 5, Tuesday January 4, Thursday February 3, Friday March 4, Monday April 4, Tuesday May 3rd, Wednesday June 1.
Cost: $1200 plus a $50 application fee (see below for details)

This course is an experiential leadership development program for women. It is designed for women who seek to facilitate change and empowerment in roles such as psychotherapist, supervisor, administrator, teacher, community leader, organizational consultant/ leader, or activist.
Participants may expect to gain:
- increased personal presence and the ability to speak and be heard.
- strengthened skills in dealing with conflict and healthy competition.
- experiences of power and competence.
- experiences of collaborative leadership.
- awareness of the impact of diversity issues.
- familiarity with models of group process.
- the ability to discern the systemic functioning of dyads, groups,
organizations and families. - the ability to plan both subtle and bold interventions for ongoing
systems. - skill in dismantling one's own projections and grace in receiving
those of others. - awareness of the shadow sides of power.
An informational interview is required prior to course registration. This may be a phone call or face to face meeting.
Faculty Information:
Caroline Marvin is a clinical psychologist and family therapist. She practiced and taught at the Family Institute of Cambridge for thirty-five years as a Director and a Senior Faculty Member. She co-directed the Intensive Family Therapy Program at the Institute with Charles Verge and developed the long running course, New Method's in Women's Group Process. Caroline was a faculty member at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology where she originated and taught the Advanced Family Therapy Course.
Currently, Caroline has a private practice, Littleton Family Therapy in Littleton, MA, where she enjoys working with families, couples and individuals.
Fern Miller is a clinical social worker who has been in private practice for 30 years, seeing families, couples and individuals, and facilitating Women's and Recovery groups. She is certified in EMDR, Hypnosis and in IFS (pending). Fern is engaged in research in the area of Parenting Adult Children. Together with Nancy Rosenblum, she co-taught the Women's Group Process Course at the Family Institute of Cambridge.
Nancy Rosenblum is a clinical social worker who has been working with women and girls in groups for many years in a variety of settings: empowerment groups for school aged girls, outpatient groups for college age women, and adolescent girls in residential settings. She was Clinical Coordinator for the Children's Collaborative in Brighton, MA, and co-taught the New Methods in Women's Group Process course with Fern Miller at the Family Institute of Cambridge.
Currently, Nancy works for Children's Friend, Inc., Counseling Center Without Walls, leading parenting groups for teen moms and addicted moms who are involved with the Department of Corrections.
- Fees: Regular Registration rate is $1250 for the course, including application fee.
- Group Registration rates: We encourage you attend with your friends/colleagues! The application fee will be waived if you register with someone else. Please mail registration forms together or indicate the person with whom you are attending on the form.

51 Kondazian Street, Watertown, MA 02472 - Participants MUST attend 100% of the program to earn the 45 CEUs requested for MSW's, MHC's and MFT's. CEU certificates will be given at the end of the last class after you are fully paid and have completed the workshop evaluation form.
- Enrollment will be limited to 24 participants. Please call or email if you are registering within the last two weeks to make sure there is still room to attend.
- No refunds are available unless a written request is received 21 days before the program. A $50 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds.
- Only email acknowledgments will be sent to confirm receipt of your registration.
- If you require special accommodations, please submit a written statement at least 30 days prior to the program to see if we can meet your needs.
- Courses may be cancelled if minimum enrollment requirements are not met. In this case, full fees will be refunded or applied to future programs, your choice.
- Weather cancellations are consistent with the decision of the Watertown, MA school system. If Watertown is cancelled or delayed, the class will be cancelled for the day. Missed days due to weather will be rescheduled.
- Grievance policy is to submit a written complaint. If the complaint cannot be resolved by Liz Brenner, she will consult with another faculty member for a second opinion to resolve the problem.
